Hawaiian Blue Gold Dust Day Gecko (Phelsuma laticauda)
We are offering unsexed juveniles that are at least two months old and well-established. These youngsters are currently thriving on a diet of small insects and a prepared gecko diet. The one photo provided is of one of our pairs, who exhibit high blue lines; please note that while the juveniles are already striking, their full blue coloration will continue to develop and become much more vibrant as they mature. These babies are expected to grow into gorgeous adults that carry the stunning turquoise and neon green traits of their lineage.
The Hawaiian blue line of gold dust day geckos is a highly sought-after locality-specific variation of the Phelsuma laticauda species. While they possess the same signature gold speckling on their necks and three red teardrop markings on their backs as the standard Madagascar wild-type, this line is famous for its extensive blue and turquoise wash that covers the head, sides, and tail. They are an active, diurnal species that is extremely entertaining to watch as they hunt and bask throughout the day.
These geckos reach an adult length of 4 to 6 inches and are primarily arboreal, meaning they love to climb on smooth surfaces like bamboo and broad-leafed plants. They are relatively hardy for day geckos, but they are best enjoyed as display animals in a beautifully planted terrarium. Because they are active and social, they can be kept in a single pair or on their own, provided they have a high-quality environment with proper lighting and heat to maintain their electric colors. A single adult can be housed comfortably in a 12x12x18-inch terrarium, though a larger 18x18x24-inch enclosure is recommended for a pair.
